Let’s go back to January 19, 2025. It’s a day that changed my life, although I didn’t know it at the time. That day was just the beginning of things to come. This was the day that I accepted God back into my life.
I ended up at Cape Christian after my girlfriend (now fiance) told me two nights before, “You need God in your life.” She was 100% right. That was exactly what I needed in my life at that moment! It not only saved our relationship, but in many ways it saved my life!
On that Sunday, January 19, 2025 we sat outside in the court yard and watch the service on a large movie screen as the church itself was packed to the brim. I sat there intent on listening to the pastor and hearing what he had to say. I let my past ideas and thoughts of church subside as I truly wanted to give this church a chance. It was time to make some changes in my life and this was the beginning.
I sat there and listened. It’s a lot to take in when you haven’t been to church on the premise of getting closer with God and truly listening and learning what the pastor is teaching. At some point as the Pastor spoke I felt as though I was the only one at the service and he was speaking directly to me.
He said, “If you’re going to pray and you’re going to move in a direction, it’s important that you hear the right voices and that the right voices will lead you to the right choices. If you hear the wrong voices they lead to the wrong choices.”
It was at that moment it all clicked. I had been listening to the wrong voices this whole time, and thus making the wrong choices. Sure the wrong choices felt good at the time. The alcohol and marijuana made me feel great for a fleeting moment. Then reality would set back in and I’d need to chase that high again. After he said that I knew that I wanted to accept God into my life. That is exactly what I did that day.
At the end of the service the pastor closed it with the following prayer:
Heavenly Father, I’m so grateful for you. I want to know you. I want to have a relationship with you. I believe you died so that I could live. Come inside, I give you my life. Transform me. Break whatever ground you want in my life. My life is in your hands, do with it what you will. In Jesus name, Amen.”

“The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble.” – Psalm 37:39 As I sit here today, reflecting on the journey of the past year, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for what God has done in my life. I spent too many years doubting Him. I walked…
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18 My earlier posts have given a glimpse of how I got to where I am. What led me to finding my Faith in God again. I can’t truly say that I had Faith in God before going to…
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me: -Psalm 23:4 In today’s world, we are surrounded by a deluge of digital distraction. We have information right at our fingertips. All we have to do is pick up our phones and ask Google. With the rise…
January 19, 2025. I remember that date like it was yesterday, even though a full year has passed. It’s funny how certain moments in life become etched into your memory with such clarity that you can recall every detail—the temperature of the room, the weight in your chest, the quiet voice inside telling you that…
When I started on my path to sobriety, I often told myself that I would drink again. I didn’t know when, but I kept saying that eventually I would be able to have a beer or two when going out to dinner. I figured I would get to a point where it would be easy…
